You probably already know that having a JCLS library card means getting access to over 400,000 titles in our collection—but it also means digital downloads and streaming, access to dozens of online research and learning services, and our Library of Things, which includes a growing collection, Kindle eReaders, instruments, and much more. There are also no late fees, signup fees, or program fees. A JCLS card is free for all Jackson County residents (with one form of identification that matches the Jackson County address on your library card application). Come to the Applegate Library to see the Rainbow Installation!
Upcoming events
Cello Concert with Lisa Truelove, 3+ years. Local cellist Lisa Truelove will serenade the Applegate community with a “potpourri of classical and folk melodies.” Free to attend and to be enjoyed by all ages! 11-noon, Tuesday, September 15.
Learn About Australian Animals with John Jackson of Bugs-R-Us, 3+ years. Go down under as we explore Australian animals and history. Touch the pelts from a Koala, Dingo, Wombat, and Kangaroo, as well as feathers from the Emu, Kookaburra, and Kiwi. 2:30-3:30 pm, Saturday, September 19.
Plant Your Own Marigold, all ages | Planta tu propio cempasúchil, para todas las edades. Known in Mexico as the flower of the dead, the marigold plays an essential role in Day of the Dead ofrendas (altars). Get ready to celebrate the holiday by planting your own marigold seed; decorate the pot and watch your marigold grow! This program will be presented in English. 2:30-3:30 pm, Friday, October 2.
Yoga Nidra w/Sound Healing, 18+ years. Release stress, soothe tension, and reset your nervous system in this deeply restorative session. Veterans Outreach, 18+ years. A veteran service officer will assist veterans and their families with services, including VA disability applications, burial benefits, widow benefits, discharge upgrades, and more. For more information, call 541-774-8214. 10 am-3 pm, October 13 and December 8.
Rainbow Sand Art Terrariums, teens and adults. Want a pop of color for your desk, countertop, or windowsill? Layer rainbow sand into jars and top with some (faux) succulents, creating a colorful terrarium. 2:30-3:30 pm, Friday, October 16.
Make your own Mini-Piñata, 8+ years | Has tu propia mini piñata, 8+ años. Learn about the rich history of piñatas and create your own. Fill them up with a mix of spicy and sweet candies, then break them open and enjoy! This program will be presented in English. 2:30-3:30 pm, Friday, October 30.
History at Your Fingertips, 18+ years. Using hands-on practice, you will learn about Oregon’s biggest databases and some national databases that have a lot of information on Oregon. Customized for your community, this program explores the databases for solving local research problems. A Q&A will follow the program. Please bring your own laptop, tablet, or smartphone. 2-4 pm, Friday, November 6.
DIY Mason Jar Luminaries, 18+ years. Slow down, get cozy, sip some warm cider, all while creating a fall themed mason jar luminary. From dried leaves and twigs to acorns and cinnamon sticks, decorate to your creativity’s content. Add warmth and light to your fall tablescape or give it as a gift. All supplies will be provided while they last. 2:30-3:30 pm, Friday, November 13.

Veterans Outreach will be here from 10 am-3 pm the second Tuesday of every even month (6/9, 8/11, 10/13, and 12/8 for the rest of the year).

Wi-Fi is available 24/7 in our parking lot and available inside during open hours.
Preschool Storytime is on Fridays from 11-11:30 am.
