If you frequent the Applegate or Ruch libraries, you might know Kat Gore, who works there as a library associate with Jackson County Library Services (JCLS). And if you know Kat, you know how thrilled we are that she has joined the Applegater board of directors.
We are especially thrilled because Kat comes to us with a strong background in journalism and with skills particularly suitable for her position on the board, as social media director.
After a childhood in Sonoma County, California, Kat majored in journalism at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, where she wrote for the student newspaper, Mustang News. After graduating, she worked first in local journalism, then for ten years in marketing and public relations while also doing freelance work in journalism, copywriting, and editing. While working as a marketer at Sonoma County Library, Kat decided to pursue a Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree with the goal of working in a public library. She graduated with an MLIS from Valdosta State University in 2024.
Well before Kat and her husband, Garrett, moved to the Applegate with their dogs in 2022, they had been longtime Applegate visitors. Now, in addition to working as a library associate at JCLS, Kat is a freelance marketing consultant and a volunteer for A Greater Applegate’s community email list.
